2.1. How can I integrate Therm-ic insoles into my footwear?

Regular shoes: Please remove the existing insole of your shoe and exchange it with a heatable Therm-ic insole. Then simply connect one of the Therm-ic battery packs and enjoy the warmth.
Footwear with liner (e.g. ski boots): Please remove the existing insole of your shoe and exchange it with a heatable Therm-ic insole. Connect the supply cable via heel along the calf. For footwear with a liner, we recommend making a cut in the heel area of the inner shoe, feeding the supply cable through the cut and taking it upwards along the outside of the inner shoe (between inner shoe and plastic shell). Then simply connect one of the Therm-ic battery packs and enjoy the warmth.

2.2. Can ThermicSole Perform be cut to individual sizes?

ThermicSole Perform is available in different sizes, making the individual tailoring unnecessary. Should there still be difficulties with the proper fit; the insole can be cut to size. While doing so, please make sure that neither the heating element nor the cable are damaged.

2.3. How long should the battery pack be charged prior to first use?

Lithium ion batteries:
Liionpacks: The integrated electrical charging system automatically ends the charging process (approx. 2-3h). The full charging capacity of the Liionpacks can only be conserved if the Liionpacks are disconnected from the charger at the end of the charging process.
PowerGloves: The integrated electrical charging system automatically ends the charging process (approx. 5-6h). The full charging capacity of the batteries can only be conserved if the batteries are disconnected from the charger at the end of the charging process.
NiMH batteries:
Supermax+: The integrated electrical charging system automatically ends the charging process (approx. 4-5.5h). The full charging capacity of the Powerpacks can only be conserved if the Powerpacks are disconnected from the charger at the end of the charging process.
Max+: The charging process ends after approximately 9 h. Please disconnect the battery pack from the charger at this time. If the maximum charging duration is exceeded, the Powerpacks will not be damaged. However, frequent overcharging can reduce the efficiency and service life.
To allow the batteries to achieve their maximum performance, we generally recommend charging/discharging them 2 or 3 times prior to first use.

2.4. What heat level do I set my battery pack to when charging it?

The selected heating level has no effect on the charging process, but we recommend setting heating level 0 on the battery pack to make sure that the full charge is conserved after the end of the charging procedure.

2.5. Which heated models are suitable for my pre-wired/ThermicInside boots?

Our system is highly sophisticated and the models are compatible among one another. Irrespective of the battery pack you select, you will be able to connect it to any boot equipped with a Therm-ic insole.

2.6. How do I attach the battery packs to my boot?

The battery packs can be attached directly to the outer edge of the shoe with the wire clip. However, for long-term use, we recommend one of the attachment options outlined below:
The Universal Powerpack Adapter and the Ski Boot Adapter represent the ideal mounting devices for attaching Therm-ic Powerpacks to boots with a plastic shell.
Power Strap Adapter - suitable to attach the Therm-ic Powerpacks on the Velcro closure of the ski boot or on the Velcro strap.
The Velcro Strap (= Velcro fastener) is designed for the convenient fastening of Therm-ic Powerpacks on the boot or lower leg.
Use the Extension Cord to keep your Therm-ic Powerpacks in the jacket or trouser pocket or to attach them on the hip (e.g. belt etc.).
Please make sure that the battery packs are not attached to any smooth or slippery areas for risk of losing them!

2.7. Can the Powerpacks be charged with a charger other than the one included?

NiMH batteries:
Supermax and Max Powerpacks can generally be charged with the Global or Standard charger (please refer to the table for the respective charging times). It is important to know that the Standard Charger is not equipped with an integrated electrical charging system, i.e. the charging level of the batteries is not recognized. If the charging status is unknown, it is therefore recommended to discharge the battery on the insole and to charge empty batteries only.
Average charging time for NiMH batteries:
GLOBAL CHARGER
SUPERMAX+ Powerpack: 4.0 – 5.5h
SUPERMAX Powerpack: 4.0 – 5.5h
MAX+ Powerpack: 3.5 – 4.5h
MAX Powerpack: 3.5 – 4.5h
STANDARD CHARGER
SUPERMAX+ Powerpack: 8.0 - 10.0h
SUPERMAX Powerpack: 7.5 - 9.5h
MAX+ Powerpack: 7.0 - 9.0h
MAX Powerpack: 6.0 - 8.0h
Lithium ion batteries:
The chargers for the white Liionpack and the silver blue Liionpack must NOT be mixed up. As well, the PowerGloves can only be charged with the supplied charger.

2.8. Up to what temperature is the full capacity of the battery packs guaranteed?

The information concerning the heating performance listed in the operating manual of every battery pack is based on tests conducted at room temperature. The devices can be used at temperatures of up to -20 °C, whereby the heating performance can be reduced by up to 15%.

2.9. Why is the heating performance of my product shorter than specified in the description?

The information provided in the instruction manual is always based on measurements conducted directly at the heating element under laboratory conditions. The actual heating period depends on the selected heating level, the ambient temperature, the charging status, and the age of the batteries.

2.10. What heating capacity can be achieved with the Therm-ic battery packs/PowerGloves?

At the highest level, the battery packs can reach a maximum temperature of up to 70°C/158°F* and the PowerGloves one up to 52°C/126°F* (*measured directly at the heating element).
However, do not allow the highest heat level to be switched on for more than a few minutes at a time. This could produce too much heat during operation, which could cause burns. Always set the battery packs/PowerGloves to level 1 or 2 to maintain the comfortable warmth. The heat should be barely noticeable.
If you have problems sensing hot or cold objects, please consult your doctor before using the unit (e.g. diabetics, disabled persons etc.). Check your feet regularly for reddening of the skin. Excessive heat levels over prolonged periods can lead to burns. Children may use the unit only under the supervision of adults.

2.11. Why are no higher heating performances available?

The selected heating performances are experience values and were brought in line by Therm-ic with medical research results.
In principle, the supplied heat performance is dimensioned in such a way that cooling of the finger tips or toe tips is prevented. This promotes perfusion and conserves the comfortable warm feeling.
Therefore you should always set the battery packs/PowerGloves to low or medium heat performance to maintain the comfortable warmth of the feet/fingers (the heat should be barely noticeable). Temperatures far exceeding the body temperature should be avoided for health reasons. In addition, please note that every person's perception of heat is different.

2.12. What is the difference between ThermiCare Refresher and Bootdryer?

Both devices are used for drying boots and gloves by preserving the materials, where ThermiCare Refresher has the following additional features:
Automatic switch-off function (timer 1h, 3h, 6h)
UV light for the reduction of bacteria and germs
Integrated fragrance to absorb unpleasant odors

2.13. Can I redesign the hygiene products and install a 120 V plug to allow me a usage in the USA?

No, because the products (e. g. ThermiCare Sanitizer, ThermiCare Refresher) have been designed, tested and approved for an operating voltage of 230 V. All of these products are also available as 120 V version suitable for use in the USA.

3.5. What is the difference between lithium ion and NiMH batteries?

Advantages of the lithium ion technology:
The batteries are smaller and lighter in weight with equivalent performance
The lithium ion technology offers a lower self-discharge rate, meaning that a fully charged battery remains charged for longer
The operational readiness and performance are significantly longer compared to a NiMH battery due to the low self-discharge rate.
Better suitability for storage (e.g. during the summer months)
Disadvantage of the lithium ion technology:
Higher acquisition costs

3.6. What is the difference between Liionpack white and Liionpack silver blue?

The silver blue generation uses a new battery technology with superior suitability for storage. Total discharge effects during long-term storage (e.g. throughout the summer months) are prevented. (Please see our storage instructions for this purpose!)

3.7. How do I store my battery pack if I am not using it for an extended period of time?

NiMH batteries (Supermax+, Max+, Supermax, Max)
1. Always make sure the Powerpacks are fully charged when storing them
2. Turn off Powerpacks and disconnect them from the charger or heated insole
3. Store in a cool, dry place at 5°C/41°F to 20°C/68°F
4. Avoid prolonged non-use. In case of long-term storage, discharge and fully recharge the batteries every 6 months!
Lithium ion batteries (ThermiControl Liionpack, Liionpack, Therm-ic PowerGloves)
1. Discharge and recharge the batteries halfway before storing them (approx. 1h for Liionpacks, approx. 2h for PowerGloves) - DO NOT CHARGE THEM FULLY
2. Turn off the batteries and disconnect the charger from the heated insole or the glove
3. Store in a cool, dry place at 5°C/41°F to 20°C/68°F
4. Avoid prolonged non-use. In case of long-term storage, discharge and recharge the batteries halfway every 6 months!

3.8. What is a total discharge and how can I protect my batteries from it?

All batteries automatically discharge over time if not used. If the batteries are not charged before being stored for a prolonged period of time, a total discharge may occur. As a result, it may become impossible to recharge the batteries.
In principle, prolonged non-use should be avoided. In case of long-term storage (e.g. throughout the summer months), it is imperative to follow the storage instructions. The proper storage of the battery packs protects the battery pack from total discharge, maximizes the battery performance and the durability.

3.9. How do I identify a total discharge?

Liionpack/white: Immediately after connecting the charger, the charge indicator on the Liionpack will blink, indicating that the battery is "fully charged". However, after disconnecting the charger, the Liionpack does not show any function and the LEDs are no longer illuminated.
Remedy: When storing a battery pack, always follow the storage instructions. If the device has already been totally discharged, replace the battery with a new white generation Liionpack. This battery technology has no total discharge effect.
Supermax: After connecting the charger, the charging process starts normally and the charge status display on the charger cable is illuminated. The charging process is prematurely terminated after approx. 1-1.5 h; the charge status display blinks, indicating that the battery is fully charged.
Remedy: Disconnect the battery from the charger and reconnect it.

3.10. Do I need to discharge and re-charge my battery pack prior to every use?

Global Charger:
Discharge: NO, charge: YES, to make sure that the full battery performance is available.
